Who Will Cut Coach Zack's Hair

    Good evening Armada!

We have a special challenge that will be taking place at Swimathon this year! Please read the message following from Coach Zack.

    Hi everyone!

This is Coach Zack. As some of you may know, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer a little over a year ago. As of this April, she is 100% cancer free. During her chemo treatments, she lost all of her hair. I, on the other hand, have lots and lots of hair. My goal became growing it long enough to donate it to Locks of Love. Sadly, it seems my hair does not want to grow any longer than it is right now, so I want to be able to donate in a different fashion. Here is my proposal: On the night of the Swimathon, if we as a team can raise $500 to go towards cancer research, the swimmers will collectively be able to shave my head! Now, I love my hair very much, but if we can raise $500, I will gladly let the swimmers give me a buzz cut, in honor of those who have lost their hair and much much more due to cancer.

    Thank you,

    Zack

Coach Zack will be talking to the kids Friday at practices to explain what he is doing and why. He will have a box for collecting donations starting tomorrow at practices, at the meet on Saturday, during practices Monday and Tuesday and also at Swimathon Tuesday evening.

Change, Cash and Checks made out to “The American Cancer Society” accepted!

He will challenge the kids to not only help raise money to make the $500 goal but also swim as many laps as they can. The top lap swimmer from each age bracket will get to help shave his hair at the end of the evening. We will be asking parents to count their swimmers laps and also sign their swimmers lap sheet to verify that the laps have been swum.

Coach Zack really thought this out on how to help Kick Cancer and help Armada raise funds at the same time by motivating the kids to swim as many laps as they can! I hope everyone is getting pledges for their laps they’re going to swim!

We hope that everyone will participate in this challenge and help Zack reach his goal of raising at least $500 for cancer research. I have a good feeling that Coach Zack will be sporting a “new do” come Tuesday evening!
