Board of Directors - 2026 Season

The Board of Directors comprises volunteer parents willing to give their time and energy throughout the year to offer a great summer swim program at an affordable cost. Armada Board must be an active member of the Wells Branch Armada with a registered swimmer. Board members must attend most swim meets, monthly Board meetings, and support functions to run the team. There is no payment or discount earned for being a board member. Board members get to register first, and time served on the board acts as your volunteer commitment during the meets, although most board members still actively volunteer during meets.

Board meetings are open to all WBA members - Typically 3rd Tuesday of the month.

My wife, Jennifer, and I have lived in Wells Branch since 2010, and our daughter, Audrey (12), started swimming with Armada in 2022. It quickly became her favorite sport—and our favorite youth sports experience. I love watching these young swimmers compete and improve and form lasting friendships. Professionally, I work in content marketing at Charles Schwab. In my free time, I enjoy camping and hiking, playing tennis, and sporadically training for marathons. If you live in the neighborhood, you've probably seen me running on the trails at some point—perhaps with Audrey by my side.

DJ Loberg Meet Director

Originally from St. Louis, MO, moved to Austin in 2004 to start a career at National Instruments, where I am currently a Principal Quality Engineer. The Loberg family have been Scofield Farms residents since 2009. Oldest daughter, Olivia (11), joined the Armada in 2022 and the other two kiddos, Vivian (9) & Anthony (7), joined the fun in 2023. My wife, Shawna, currently the Head Ready Bench Volunteer, contracts as an Athletic Trainer for many different sports throughout the year. Before joining the Armada swim team, we knew very little about being a Swim Family, as we mostly play (and coach) on frozen water (hockey), soccer, baseball, and volleyball. We have enjoyed being part of the larger swim family over the last couple of summers, and look forward to many more fun and interesting summers at the pool (even the early, early morning Saturday meets).

We have been a part of the Wells Branch Armada family since 2016 when my older daughter first expressed interest in swimming competitively.  We have continued adding a swimmer or two over the years.  I have loved being part of the team!  I have enjoyed meeting the other families and seeing my kids grow in their abilities.  The coaches have been great and my kids love them.  I look forward to seeing you at the pool.

My family lived in La Ciotat, France, by the beach for nearly four years when my daughter was in kindergarten and my son was just a baby. She quickly advanced in the local swim club, and swimming became a big part of our lives. I’ve also done open water swimming through Iron Man triathlons.
We moved to Wells Branch three years ago, and in 2023, my daughter joined the Armada swim team. In 2024, all my kids participated and had a great experience. Now, we’re excited for our third year with Armada!

After relocating from Las Vegas, NV to Austin, our family was eager to continue nurturing our daughters’ passion for swimming. Amethyst (13) and Saffire (11) have been in the water since they were just 9 months old, and we wanted to support their growth into competitive swimmers.

Two years ago, we joined Armada Swim Team, and it has truly exceeded our expectations. Armada is far more than just a summer swim team—it’s a vibrant and supportive community. Each season, both swimmers and parents come together seamlessly, creating an environment that feels familiar, welcoming, and inspiring. The camaraderie, dedication, and spirit of this team are difficult to capture in words, but they have made a lasting impact on our family.

We relocated for my work to Central Texas two years ago.  I swam in High School all three years for my high school team and have loved swimming and water my whole life.  We got our girls into water safety classes as babies and upon moving to Texas fell in love with Wells Branch Armada.  From the beginning i have gone all in for the team whether volunteering at every event or at Austin FC games as much as possible.  Grateful to be able to serve on the board and help with the continued success of the program and all the kids.

Katie Nafius Sponsorships / Member at Large

2026 will be our fourth year in the Armada and I'm honored to serve on the board as Sponsorships chair! My son Johnny (12) and daughter Emily (9) have enjoyed it since day one and made many friends! My husband Ted has joined the volunteer ranks as head set-up person, and I've taken many volunteer roles over the years. We aren't otherwise a sports-playing family, so the Armada allows us the opportunity to compete while learning all the great swimming skills!

Our family has called Austin home for the last 14 years, after moving from Southern California. The Armada family is a vibrant and supportive one. Even though we moved a few miles north to Round Rock this summer, Armada will always be our swim home!

I'm looking forward to working with everyone to bring all the needed funds to support our fantastic team!
