Notes on choosing events in the final meets

Here are some reminders/guidelines to help you choose your swimmer's events in the final weeks.

    1. Remember that the coaches ask that swimmers try every event in their age group, every season (if they are capable of doing the stroke). There is mainly for the swimmer's benefit and growth, but there are other important reasons as well (below).
    2. The 6/22 home meet with Rattan Creek (opening today) is the last meet where we will be using seed times from Red/White/Blue and previous years. After that, only official times from 2019 regular season (dual and tri- meets) will be used. So, if you have not swum every event yet in a meet after the RWB, you should enter those missing events in the Rattan Creek meet. Otherwise you will have NT (No Time) seed times in the following meet, which can result in being placed in the inappropriate heat or relay team.
    3. To swim an event in the Divisional meet, swimmers must have an official time in that event. NT entries are not allowed for that meet.
    4. For a swimmer to be eligible for a regular season high point award, they must have attempted every event for their age group during the season (DQ is ok as long as they tried each event at least once).
    5. On the subject of high point awards, to avoid confusion and potential disappointment, I remind everyone that only regular season meets count for the regular season high point awards. Not the RWB practice meet, and not the Divisional meet. There are separate high point awards for the Divisional meet that are awarded during the meet itself.

Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions.
