Captain's Log

by Deanna Johnson

It was so great to see everyone at D&J Sports for our swimsuit fitting Spirit Night. Not only did we get to hug a lot of friends from previous seasons, but we got to meet many of our new swimmers too. I loved all the excitement. Many have contacted me saying they missed Spirit Night, but if you need a fitting, head over to D&J Sports and Heidi and her staff can take care of you. The Armada order is being placed soon; if you want a team suit in time for the first meet, go in for your fitting asap.

Scroll down this newsletter to get the details on our Parent Orientation & Board Meeting (this Thursday) and Meet the Coaches night (next Wednesday).

Lastly, I still need some returning swim families to be our Armada Mentors. If you have been on swim team before, I am looking for at least a dozen families to wear an 'ARMADA MENTOR' button the first week of practice and at our Red White and Blue home meet. Your job would be to do your normal routine, but identify yourself as a parent our new families can approach when they have questions. I still remember my first week and was so thankful for those families who shared their tips with me. If you are willing to be an ARMADA MENTOR, please contact Deanna Johnson or Justin Anderson.

See you at practice in two weeks!

Returning Parents - Can You Be an ARMADA MENTOR?

Volunteer Coordinator - Justin Anderson

Returning parents, remember that first week you were at Armada and you were not quite sure what to do? This year we have a lot of new families. We are looking for returning parents to become ARMADA MENTORS for that first week of practice.

During the first week of practice, we are looking for at least 4 parents per practice or about a Dozen Families to wear a special name tag and help us watch out for new parents. The goal is to guide these new families on their first week of practice and during the Red, White & Blue meet. You might help them get their kids to the right end of the pool, show them where to find their file boxes, and answering questions about what to bring on that first swim meet. Really just making them feel comfortable and welcome that first week. There's nothing better than a friendly face and someone who can help you make sense of that first week which can be a little chaotic.

If you are willing to be an ARMADA MENTOR, please contact Deanna Johnson or Justin Anderson

Armada Needs Sponsors

If you know any businesses that would be willing to become an Armada Sponsor, please let us know. We support over 200 registered swimmers a year from 140+ families in Wells Branch and the surrounding areas. Sponsors will receive acknowledgment at all 4 home swim meets, at swim-a-thon, and awards night. At each home event, about 300+ swimmers compete. At the end of the season, over 500 swimmers and their families attend the divisional meet also hosted at our pool.
