Coach's Corner

by Gina Zayas, Head Coach

As I stood and watched our swimmers compete last Saturday at Block House I suddenly realized that our season is more than halfway over. So, breaking it down in numbers the remaining few weeks of swim season looks like this:

  • 24 days of practice
  • 4 meets
  • Endless opportunities for improvement
  • 4 non-competitive team events
  • Infinite moments of learning and fun

With that said I encourage you to take every opportunity to allow your swimmer to challenge themselves by swimming in the meets on Saturdays. The meets are one very tangible way swimmers can take what they have learned each week and apply it. If you spend anytime in the pits you will also witness the crazy fun they have together between races and the amazing amount of support they provide each other at race time.

The coaches will continue to provide a positive environment for improvement and growth at each practice. This week will work more on diving, racing, breaststroke and the individual needs of our swimmers.

Stroke Clinics

Hi Families! In order to help in the best way we can outside of our normal practices we are going to offer stroke clinics Monday through Friday each week. Below are the details:

  1. Each stroke clinic session will be assigned to a specific skill.
  2. There will be ten spots open at each of the normal clinic times (1st session runs from 11:45am-12:15pm and 2nd session runs from 12:15pm-12:45pm) and sign ups are first come, first serve. The stroke clinic binder is located by the family folders and will be put out each Monday with a list clinics for that week.
  3. We will have coaches available so that the swimmers are working in groups with those of similar age or skill level.

Please email or stop me at the pool with any questions. Thanks! Coach Gina

Visitor Warm-Ups 6:50 am to 7:20 am Meet Starts 7:30 am

Meet Set-up: Friday, June 16 at 8:00 pm

Clean Up

We ask everyone to clean up the pit and pool areas before they leave. We must return the pool area to its original condition. The more people who help, the sooner everyone can leave. Pit parents should not release swimmers until their area is restored.

Parking

Friendly reminder for our new families, for home meets, the parking lot adjacent to our pool is for our guest team. Additional parking will be along Sauls and Crissom next to the pool and at the elementary school, and on the street along Long Vista. Please do NOT park along Bratton or in any of the parking lots for businesses you see along Bratton and Long Vista, as you will risk being towed. There will be overflow parking at the Rec Center on Shoreline Dr., but it is a small hike from there to the pool.

Please allow extra time to find a place to park and potentially walk a fair distance to the pool. You may also wish to drop swimmers off and then go find parking.

Concessions Donations: Also, please note that for each home meet, a certain age group (or groups) is asked to bring concessions donations to help our concessions stand provide low-cost, nutritional snacks for the swimmers at a reasonable price. The preferred donation is fruit, since this is something that the concessions volunteers cannot pre-purchase or store easily and is in high demand at meets.
