Swim Fast – Go Armada!
By: Gina Zayas
Fantastic swims this weekend, amazing time drops and final swims by our age out swimmers were just some of the great moments at our final dual meet of the season. Our meet with the Dolphins is always fun and full of friendly competition. Congratulations also to Coach Miranda, Coach Mason and Josh Trunick who are finishing up their final season as Armada swimmers!
Our final week of swim kicks off with the 4th of July parade and festivities. We then begin a week full of practice, stroke clinics, awards night, spirit day and our final team meet of the season….Divisionals. :) Divisionals is our last opportunity to compete as a team for the season. It is a compilation of all we have practiced and learned throughout the season. I hope each swimmer who is able to will be there. I promise you also will not want to miss the surprise that will take place during one of the breaks during the meet!
Thanks for always doing your best. Let’s make this last week awesome and put 110% effort into each practice!

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped and keep the Round Rock meet moving and allowing it to complete on-time. We even had a Round Rock person step in and help out as a Timing System Operator.
Well, this week is it. The Final Stretch. No more events open up and Divisionals is on Saturday. We are still in need of two pit parents (9/10 Boys and 13/14 Girls) and a 3rd Shift Concessions person. If you can help out it here, the team appreciates it.
If you are an Awards Night Volunteer, I will be sending out the volunteer list Tuesday (5 July) for all those who signed up.
See you Thursday night!
Coach Appreciation Day
We will be celebrating and thanking our coaching staff for their hard work this season during practices on Wednesday, July 6th! On the morning of the 6th, we will have a “buffet style” table set up with breakfast items and snacks for the Coaches and Junior Coaches. Please feel free to add any food items you’d like – individual fruit cups/bags and watermelon slices are always a big hit!
We’ve also included a link on the sidebar to this website titled “Coaches Favorite Things Document” in case you need some gift ideas for your child’s coach. (FYI – to protect the coaches’ privacy, you will need to be signed in to view the files.)
For your convenience, we have listed the names of each coach below to aid your swimmer in remembering the coaches that have helped them along the way. Pictures are also available by clicking on the “Coaches” and “Junior Coaches” link provided below.

July 9 - Divisional Championships (Home)
Our final meet of the season is this Saturday, July 9. We will host the teams from Rattan Creek, Block House Creek and Balcones Country Club at our pool for the Division 4 Championship.
We would like as many people as possible to attend this meet. The old adage that every swimmer matters to the team is more true than ever at the Divisional meet, where depth matters even more than at a dual meet.
Please arrive on time. Late arrival could result in your swimmer being scratched from their relay.
Scratch: Once we close the meet online, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or text to 512-659-1373 if you have to scratch.

Swim Meet Tips and Checklist
Here are a few important tips to make your swim meet experience successful:
|Be on time. At the beginning of the meet the coaches will make changes to relay events if there are swimmers that are absent or missing. It is important that swimmers check-in with their pit parent to avoid being scratched from any relay event.|
|Bring nutritious snacks. The swim meets begin very early in the morning and last until noon or later. Please pack healthy snacks for your swimmers to eat such as fresh fruit, bagels, crackers, water, sports drinks, etc. We make an attempt to offer healthy items at the concession stand.|
|Pack appropriate supplies.Towels, sunscreen, goggles, etc - See checklist below...|
|Swimmers should stay in their pit areas The Pit Parents are responsible for watching the swimmers in the pit area and getting them to the ready bench when it is time for their event. If your child is going somewhere with you, please let the pit parents know.|
|MARK EVERYTHING! Please write your child's name on ALL belongings. At the meet, you will be dozens of identical t-shirts, caps, goggles - plus similar towels, flip flips, sunscreen. Don't forget to mark any electronic games - they get mixed up!|
|2 towels||Water or sport's drinks|
|Blanket to sit on in pit area||Nutritious snacks|
|Warm clothes for after warm-up in early a.m.||Quiet activities to keep them occupied in the pit area between races|
|Goggles||Parents: Bring a chair, wear a hat, apply sunblock!|
